I have been appointed as the president of our club for 2023~2024. I will devote myself wholeheartedly to my duties so that I can fulfill my important role as president of this club, which is celebrating its 70th anniversary this year. We look forward to your support and cooperation.
This year's RI President, Gordon R.. Mr. McInally's theme is "Let's create hope in the world." This may be in response to Russia's invasion of Ukraine, but it goes beyond that to Rotary's ultimate goal of achieving world peace.
Kazuhiro Uzawa, Governor of Rotary International District 2790, presented the district theme of "Bring up Engagement." Engagement is defined as a promise, a pledge, and a willingness to contribute, and it is expected to build a deep relationship with the club, properly grasp the club's strategy and goals, and develop love and compassion for the club.
With these themes in mind, I would like to take a look back at the tradition and dignity of our club, which is celebrating its 70th anniversary, and make it a year that will lead to a further future. We believe that the tradition and dignity of our club is the result of 70 years of our members meeting meeting to discuss the ideal of service and what the club should be, and to work hard to achieve it, which has fostered the spirit of our club. I am confident that this spirit will live on as a timeless value at the heart of our club, even as Rotary clubs change with the times.
Therefore, in order to carry on this tradition and dignity, I would like to set forth the President's policy of "Let's talk about Rotary, and let's refine and deepen the spirit of Rotary." Now that the coronavirus pandemic has finally subsided and we are able to meet freely, we hope to make this a year where we can all enjoy talking about Rotary and connect it to the future of Rotary.
Next, regarding the President's policy, Governor Uzawa advocated the development of a strategic plan to support the achievement of the club's goals, and in response to this, a new Strategic Planning Committee was established and the strategic plan was formulated. In addition, the Public Image and Magazine Committee will be established to replace the Public Relations Committee to improve Rotary's public image and awareness.
As for the 70th anniversary of the founding, we will work together with the 70th Anniversary Executive Committee to realize the implementation of the project. At our meetings, we place emphasis on talking to the members, and we encourage members to share their memories of Rotary, their spirit as a Rotarian, and what they think about Rotary.
Last but not least, I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to Ms. Toshiko Ushimaru for taking on the role of Secretary, as well as to the chairpersons, vice-chairpersons, and committee members, and to ask for your continued support and cooperation. Thank you very much.
